Principles for strengthening marriage

Osveh, Cultural Institute of Qur'an and Atrat Osveh,

The family, as the core of the formation of society, plays a very vital role. This institution is considered the most fundamental factor in the continuity and development of society. The future of any society directly depends on the functioning and capabilities of its families. From another perspective, the family acts as the cultural pillar of society and contributes to its success and prosperity. Undoubtedly, a family can play a significant role in the progress and excellence of society, but this role depends on a solid and stable foundation within the family itself.
Husband and wife have a common goal in their lives and strive to achieve it. However, each has a specific responsibility and scope of work, according to their natural situation and abilities. One of the ways to strengthen the family is to determine the limits, duties, responsibilities, and division of labor that is reasonable and proportionate to the capacities and abilities of each husband and wife. This does not prevent cooperation and joint efforts in different areas, but rather causes mutual expectations to be balanced and each to be more prepared and focused in their own field of work. Ali (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon him) paid attention to this important matter in the first days of their life together. According to this hadith, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) divided the work and duties according to the natural abilities and limitations of gender; he said: "Because men are more capable of doing work outside the home and women are more suitable for doing housework." Hazrat Zahra expressed her happiness and satisfaction with this division of work and said: "No one but Allah knows how happy I was that the Messenger of Allah prevented me from carrying out the work that is the responsibility of men."
Each husband and wife have their strengths and weaknesses in life. What helps to strengthen and strengthen the family is for the husband and wife to cover each other's weaknesses. The Quran has a subtle and eloquent expression in this regard: "Wives are clothing for you men and you are clothing for them." The important property of clothing is that it covers the ugliness of the body. The Quran also says in this regard: "O children of Adam, We have sent down to you clothing to cover your private parts." Of course, they should not be satisfied with only covering their weaknesses, but they should also pay attention to each other's strengths, highlight them, and tell each other about them.
One of the outstanding characteristics of Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her) was her obedience to her husband and her respect for his decisions. In some cases, her husband's decisions were seemingly against her wishes and desires. However, she, with complete courtesy and respect, prioritized the wishes and orders of her beloved husband, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and obeyed him. Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her) was deeply upset by the behavior and stance of some personalities due to the harassment she received regarding the issue of the succession of the Prophet and the issue of Fadak. When she was sick, she was not happy with their visits and would not accept them until they appealed to Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him). When Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him) requested to meet them, Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon him) put her husband's wishes ahead of her own: "Dear Ali! The house is your house and I am your wife, do whatever you want."
