These days, pilgrims from all over the world who are at the peak of their sincerity have reached Iraq to walk with the sincere people of that land to Karbala on the day of Arbaeen, and to perform the Arbaeen pilgrimage up close. However, in this spontaneous spiritual, political, and completely popular movement, there are many words, messages, and lessons that reflecting on each of these can change our practical behavior and create a new life for us. What message is hidden in the Arbaeen of Hossein? Imam Sadiq (AS) says about this: “Any servant who leaves his home with the intention of visiting the grave of Imam Hossein (AS) on the fortieth day of his death, for every step he takes, a reward will be written for him; one sin will be cleansed from his sins and one degree will be added to his rank.” The spiritual and moral effects of the pilgrimage of Imam Hossein (AS) are so great that so many hearts, lovingly, step on the path of his pilgrimage every year. There is no doubt that Arbaeen has been the most passionate spontaneous gathering of Shiites all over the world, which has amazed the hearts of the Islamic religion. In understanding the message of Arbaeen, it can be said that Imam Hossein (AS) along with his entire family and household, including even infants, took a dangerous path. He wanted to keep alive the tradition of his great grandfather, the Holy Prophet (PBUH). A tradition in which there was a great emphasis on enjoining good and forbidding evil, and in the end, they were martyred in this path. Although after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the enemies, friends, and lovers of this great Imam were deprived of visiting his grave, this deprivation could not continue in any period of history. Sometimes, Shiites were even punished by the opposing government for reaching the grave of Imam Hussein (AS) on the day of Arbaeen. This shows the message of Arbaeen that Imam Hussein (AS) was able to act successfully in calling his followers to good and forbidding them from evil.
Ashura and the Karbala incident are a point of connection and common ground for all Muslims. If we look at the context of the Ashura incident, although the initial core of the companions of the Commander of the Martyrs (peace be upon him) on the night of Ashura were Shiites, on the day of Ashura and at the height of the war, those who joined the enemy army with the Commander of the Martyrs (peace be upon him) and were martyred alongside him were Sunnis.
The essence of the walk is peace, because the coming together of a population of different races, nationalities, and languages from all over the world, as well as the kindness and compassion of the pilgrims towards each other, is an example of the peace-loving society that will prevail in the world after the advent of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Therefore, people all over the world today recognize Islam, whose motto is peaceful coexistence, in the face of the Arbaeen Hosseini walk, and if someone wants to become a Muslim, he turns to Shiism.
