One of the central topics in the philosophy of art is the discussion of beauty.
Islamic philosophers have specific definitions and views on beauty. According to Islamic sages, the beauties existing in this world are imperfect and limited manifestations of absolute beauty, that is, God Almighty.
Art is not the production of pleasant things. Above all, it is not pleasure; art is a means of communication between humans.
It is an essential and necessary issue for human life and for the journey towards individual and human society's happiness, because it connects human beings with similar feelings to each other.
Hojjat Kaffashi, a master's degree student in art research, said in an interview with the International Quran News Agency from South Khorasan: By reflecting on Nahjul-Balagha and the words of Amir al-Mu'minin, we came to seven arts that Imam Ali (AS) had opinions about or was interested in. These seven arts are the art of oratory, poetry, calligraphy, storytelling, image creation, drama, and color theory.
Kaffashi added: The art of storytelling, which is widely used in the Holy Quran, was also used by Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) in Letters 25 and 31, urging people to learn from the past and also telling beautiful stories.
Art means aesthetics and the creation of beauty, which includes any type of beautiful and interesting art and craft in various fields. An artist is someone who, by recognizing beauty, can benefit from it in the light of science and reason, and become a factor in creativity and construction, and in the growth and exaltation of himself and others.
In general, the phenomena of creation are beauty and the creation of beauty, and they represent the dazzling and diverse arts that God's pure essence has created in the universe.
Psychologists say: The human soul is composed of four dimensions: a sense of religion, a sense of goodness, a sense of wisdom, and a sense of beauty.
They believe that all literary, poetic, fine arts, and art in the true sense originate from the sense of beauty, and are the effects of this sense, and that the entire world is covered with beauty, and all of them are signs of God's love for art, and His creation of art. Therefore, we, who are part of the world of creation, cannot distance ourselves from art.
Therefore, art is a love and pursuit of beauty that is innate and arises from human nature, which must be flourished and made fruitful, and through art, one must create beauty in various dimensions.
What is important here is that art serves humanity, and such art is the committed art and the art that is the signature of pure Islam. However, unfortunately, in today's world, in the name of art, instead of being constructive, it is used for destruction, and by distorting and perverting beauty, the greatest blows are inflicted on humanity.
For example, the beauty of women under the guise of artists fuels corruption and deviation, and causes the lives of young people to be empty and meaningless, and prevents them from true and constructive art. This is where we must recognize the boundaries, separate formal art from real art, and after recognizing creative art, make it a means and a ladder of growth and advancement.
In clearer terms, art is like language, which if used correctly is constructive, otherwise it becomes destructive and seditious, and from the way a language is spoken, one can clearly discern the flaws and art of the speaker.
Art, creativity, and innovation are a universal and human phenomenon that has been and will be present in all aspects of life throughout the ages and among all nations and peoples, and everyone participates in admiring it.
