Badab Surat springs

The beautiful springs of Badab Surat, which are also known as colored springs, attract many tourists as one of the sights of Sari. This amazing collection of springs, which is considered the second national natural work of Iran after Mount Damavand, besides its special beauty, has a very high therapeutic value and can only be found in a few places on this earth.
Badab Surat springs are amazing natural pools of travertine, which are among the sights of Mazandaran province and are located at an altitude of 1841 meters above sea level. The springs are surrounded by wild barberry bushes and their unique beautiful orange color is the result of high concentration of iron oxide sediments. These springs include several springs with completely different water in terms of color, smell, taste and water volume.
Badab means carbonated water and Surat means the intensity of the effect. Badab springs of Surat were registered as the second national natural work of Iran in 2007. In 2007, Damavand Mountain, Badab Surat springs and Saru Abarkoh were registered as three natural monuments by the Cultural Heritage Organization.
From the north, these springs reach the heights and hills covered with forests with coniferous trees, and from the south, they overlook the valleys downstream, and from the east, they are adjacent to the heights covered with bushy plants and shrubs. It is also surrounded by the village of ( Erost ) in the west.
Badab Surat springs can be visited in all seasons of the year. In spring, in addition to the greenery and freshness of nature, the springs are at their most watery. In summers, the amount of watering decreases and the hot sun can be annoying. In the cold seasons, the springs have a red color; But you may encounter problems on the way to access. Considering all these points, the best time to visit Badab Surat springs is April.
The springs of Badab Surat Erost were formed at the same time as the last folding of Alborz in the Pleistocene and Pliocene (fourth geological period). The flow of sedimentary and mineral waters of these springs has created hundreds of floors and dozens of very beautiful ponds in orange, yellow and red colors in different sizes in the lower slope of the mountain over the years. These floors and ponds are actually the main attraction and unique feature of Badab Surat springs. The beauty of these floors and the special location of the spring on the mountain slope and the surrounding views are admirable, especially in the evening.
The first spring
The first water spring has very salty water and a pool with a diameter of about 15 meters and a great depth, which is useful for treating back and leg pain, skin diseases, rheumatism, and especially migraine headaches. Also, this spring does not freeze in winter due to its saltiness.

The second fountain
The second spring, which is located upstream and northwest of this spring, is sour-tasting and the blue color is red and orange. There is a little iron deposit around this spring.
