Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha is one of the great Muslim holidays and has been named Eid al-Adha and it is called Eid al-Adha,

because Adha means the height of the day and the length of sunlight, and when the sun rises (before noon That time is called Doha . For this reason, pilgrims make sacrifices when the sun rises, which is why the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, before which the sacrificial act is performed, is called "Eid al-Adha".

In essence, the philosophy of Eid al-Adha is to slaughter carnal lusts, which we must take to the altar and destroy in the presence of the god. In the ninth of Dhu al-Hijjah, by reciting the prayer of Arafa attributed to the prayer of Imam Hussein (AS) on the day of Arafa, we get closer to our knowledge and ask God for forgiveness, so that in the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah we sacrifice our souls and worldly aspirations and to God Almighty. Let's get closer.

Eid al-Adha existed before the history of mankind. Early humans sacrificed animals and humans to please the gods. The history of sacrifice is very old and has existed since the time of Prophet Adam Abu al-Bashar (AS) and in the past religions it was considered as a religious rule, some of which are briefly stated:

1- The Sacrifice of the Children of Adam (AS), which is considered to be the first sacrifice in the world, and it is specified in verses 27-27 of Surah Ma'idah, which is summarized as follows: The two sons of Adam, named Abel and Cain, were shepherds and farmers, respectively. And they had a lot of sheep and water and soil, Prophet Adam (PBUH) ordered them to sacrifice in the way of God. Abel devoted one of the best camels or sheep to the sacrifice in the way of God, and Cain chose a bunch of low and bad wheat for the sacrifice, which Abel's sacrifice was accepted by the Lord, and Cain's sacrifice was rejected because of sincerity. Cain was jealous of not accepting the sacrifice and the fire of his anger and resentment burned, Cain's demonic spirit forced him to kill his brother and he killed Abel and became a loser in this world and the hereafter.

2- Prophet Noah (AS) after the flood, built an altar and sacrificed many animals to God there.

3- The victim of Hazrat Ibrahim Khalil (AS), the only son of Ishmael (AS), which is stated in verses 102 to 107 of Surah Safat .

4- In the time of Prophet Moses (pbuh), according to the Jews, there were two types of sacrifices, one was the demo sacrifice and the other was the non-demo sacrifice, which is the sacrifice of the demo of three types: the sacrifice that was burned in the fire and left nothing but its skin. They offered sacrifices to atone for the sin, and burned part of it, leaving the rest for the priests, and sacrificed for the sake of health, and were free to eat its flesh.

5- In Christianity, too, according to the Christians, it is the only sacrifice of Christ and it is said that Jesus (pbuh) sacrificed his blood and flesh to the people of the world, and for this reason, one of the branches of the Christian religion is that one should fish once or At least once a year, they should go to the priest and give him as much money as they can, and confess all the sins they have committed during that time, so that the priest, who they believe has the aspect of forgiveness, will forgive those sins.

6- In the Arabs of the pre-Islamic period, when the chiefs of the tribes came to Mecca, the inhabitants of Mecca were their hosts and hosts, and both groups considered themselves responsible for killing camels, cows and sheep for their idols and feeding the poor and hungry.
