Muslim Ibn Aqeel

Muslim Ibn Aqeel

Muslim's faithful friend of Imam Hussein

Mr. Muslim Ibn Aqeel Ibn Abi Talib Ibn Abdul Muttalib Ibn Hashim is the nephew of Imam Ali (as). Muslim is the wife of Ruqayyah, the daughter of Imam Ali (as), whose mother was Kalbiya. He was martyred in 60 AH and is one of the leaders of Bani Hashem and the person whom Sayyid al-Shuhada called him by the title of Trust. He had the opinion, knowledge and courage and lived in Mecca.
Muslim Ibn Aqeel Ibn Abi Talib, who was the ambassador of Imam Hussein (AS) in Kufa during the Karbala incident, is from the family of Abi Talib. . In a report to Imam Hussein (AS), he announced the readiness of the Kufis for the presence of the Imam in Kufa.
Muslim's serious mission during his trip to Kufa was to investigate whether the general elders and wise men of the city were ready to support Imam Hussein (as) and to act on the letters they had written. Muslim entered Kufa at night and went to the house of a sincere Shiite. The news of Muslim's arrival in the city resounded and the Shiites came and went to him and pledged allegiance to the Imam. It is stated in history that twelve, eighteen or, according to Ibn Kathir, forty thousand people pledged allegiance to Muslim.
When Muslim arrived in Kufa, the ruler of the city was Nu'man ibn Bashir, who has been described by historical sources as a gentleman and a pacifist. According to some narrations, Nu'man was not happy with Yazid, and for this reason, when the news of the people's allegiance to Muslim ibn Aqeel spread in Kufa, Nu'man ibn Bashir gathered the people and advised them to stay away from division, but said that someone with I will not fight, I will not fight him. When the supporters of the Umayyad rule objected to this method of Nu'man and called him weak, he replied: "For me, it is better to be strong but to disobey God's command."

After forty days of examining the situation in Kufa, Muslim wrote a letter to Imam Hussein (as) in this regard: "What I am saying is the truth. The vast majority of the people of Kufa are ready to support you; "Move to Kufa immediately." Imam, aware of the deep feelings of the Kufis, decided to move to this city.

The killing of Muslim was entrusted to "Bakrban Hamran Ahmari", who was wounded in the head and shoulders in the clashes with Muslim Ibn Aqeel's sword. He was ordered to take Muslim to the roof of "Dar al-Amara" and hit him on the neck and threw his body on the ground. Muslim was taken to the top of Dar al-Amara, while the name of God was on his tongue, he was saying Takbir, he was praising God and he was greeting the Prophet of God and the angels of God and he was saying: God! Judge between us and these deceitful deceivers who stopped helping us! Large crowds outside the palace were waiting for the program to end. They put Muslim in front of the shoemakers' market. With the blow of a sword, they cut off his head from his body, and ... the bloody body of this free and brave martyr was thrown down from above, and the people cheered and made a lot of noise.
