25 kilometers northeast of Tabriz, you will reach a colorful landscape known as "Al Adagh Lar Mountains". These mountains stretch from Mahneshan Zanjan to Midane city in East Azarbaijan province. The area of Aladagh Lar colored mountains is about 70 square kilometers. These rainbow mountains extend from Mahneshan Zanjan to Midaneh and from Tabriz to Ahar. Aladag Lar in Turkish language is composed of two words Ala and Dag Lar. The word ala means colorful and dag lar means mountains. Rainbow Mountains or Aladagh Lar are located in two separate areas: one in Mahenshan of Zanjan province and the middle of East Azarbaijan province, and the other in the north of Tabriz on the Ahar road. In fact, these mountains are spread over a large area of 70 square kilometers, and therefore it is possible to visit them from different parts of the two provinces of East Azarbaijan and Zanjan.
A magnificent geotourism attraction of the combination of brown, white, green, red, yellow and orange soils in the blue sky frame that attracts the attention of every visitor.
You can visit the Rainbow Mountains all year round. Of course, you will face a special effect at any time; because these mountains get a special color in the sunlight and in autumn and winter with rain and snow, they will offer you a different picture.
The colored mountains of Aladagh Lar in Tabriz are considered a valuable geotourism phenomenon. These mountains have pools of sediments under their, which during geological processes and simultaneously with the rise of the earth's surface, iron deposits mixed with soil compounds and caused its color to change. The element of iron in the soil of the mountains has been oxidized in contact with the oxygen of the air and has stabilized the red color in it.
Therefore, wherever you see red soil, it is a proof of the presence of iron element in the soil. For example, when you see the green color of this mountain, you are actually looking at soil mixed with copper minerals, and when you see white color in the soil of these colored hills, you are looking at soil mixed with silicates and salts. Yellow color is also It is from iron oxide on the soil surface. The age of these colorful mountains goes back to 15 million years ago, and historically, one of the oldest tourist attractions of Tabriz stands out before your eyes. It is so old that it can be called a part of the land-tourism heritage of Tabriz.
When the sun shines directly on the Aladaghlar mountains, you can clearly see the arrangement of nature's colors. At this time, you will see even more variety of colors. It seems that the sunlight makes the colorful landscape of Aladagh Lar mountains more shiny and bright. One of the best times to visit this area is during the spring rains, when waterways appear next to the colorful mountains and offer an extraordinary view.
