Fasting for the digestive system

Fasting for the digestive system

Fasting and avoiding eating and drinking during the holy month of Ramadan can affect the health of all organs and systems of the body, including the heart, kidneys, and especially the digestive system.
Referring to the usefulness of fasting for the health of the digestive system, a specialist in gastrointestinal and liver diseases emphasized: In order to benefit from the benefits of fasting, people should allow their bodies to experience hunger during the fasting period.
Dr. Mehdi Zubiri stated: Fasting is a kind of rest for the human digestive system so that it can have a one-month rest after 11 months of continuous work. Zubairi stated: During fasting, by making the body hungry to provide its own metabolism, it moves towards the use of stored fats, the accumulation of which is harmful in the body, and the loss of these fats definitely plays a significant role in health. Will have a body.
The head of the Faculty of Medicine of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences noted: Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan will be beneficial for the body when a person feels hungry during the day, and in case of hunger, the body will use fat reserves for metabolism did
Zubiri reminded: Unfortunately, some people consume large amounts of food during the interval between Iftar and Suhar to prevent hunger during fasting, which makes fasting unable to help their digestive system.
He stated that the high volume of food consumption can harm different organs of the body, and added: In the digestive system, the liver is the only organ that is directly affected by high food consumption and gets damaged.
This specialist in digestive and liver diseases advised: People should refrain from eating bulky and high-calorie foods during Ramadan and choose the appropriate amount of food and let the body experience hunger during fasting.
Studies show that fasting improves inflammatory diseases and allergies. Examples of such inflammatory diseases are arthritis and skin diseases such as psoriasis. Some experts suggest that fasting may improve the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases such as colitis.
The first reaction of the body to fasting is the breakdown of glucose. When the glucose reserves are exhausted, ketosis begins. This breakdown of fats releases energy. Fats stored in the kidneys and muscles are broken down to release energy.
One of the main problems with the diets in question is that the lost weight often comes back quickly and even with a little extra weight. This is not the case during Ramadan. One has to eat less to feel full. Also, it has been observed that fasting reduces the desire for processed foods, so fasting increases the desire to eat natural foods, especially juices and fruits. This is a way to promote the lifestyle. It is healthy.
