Now we want get acquainted with one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Iran.
Hara forests with an area of 22,000 km are located on the shores of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. These forests are one of the rare natural phenomena in the world and are protected. 2400 hectares of these forests are located on the northern and western coasts of 60 km of Qeshm Island. The trees of these forests are green all year round and their length reaches 3 to 6 meters. An interesting feature of these trees is that they have adapted well to salt water over millions of years, so they feed on salt water and naturally desalinate it by removing its salt.
Due to the favorable conditions, mangrove forests are a safe habitat for tropical migratory birds. Birds such as Great Heron, Great Egret, Coastal Egret, Indian Heron, Sharpfoot, Salim Gray, Gilanshah and Kakai. These forests are also excellent habitats for fish, mollusks and crustaceans.
The water level of this forest is normally about 1.5 meters. But during the high tide, the trees of this forest go under water and the influx of fish in the tide makes it a good place for fishing. Tides occur in these forests every 6 hours. Interestingly, at low tide, these trees appear to have grown on dry land.
In addition to boating and enjoying the unique scenery of these forests, in winter you can see a large number of migratory birds migrating to this area. For this reason, in addition to their natural importance, these forests are protected to protect their animal species. In Iran, these forests have been registered as national protected areas, biosphere reserves and international wetlands. These forests are also registered as a biosphere reserve in UNESCO.
The best time to travel to the Hara forests in Qeshm is from mid-autumn to May, when the temperature in this area is more suitable. To stay around it, you can use eco-friendly houses with cleanliness close to it or camp next to these natural beauties and spend some time in the heart of its wild and beautiful nature.
